Scissors and Bonbons

I was quietly quilting along when I noticed these.

Isn't she cute?

Lovely bird brain aka stork scissors.

Just how many scissors do I need to complete one quilt? Apparently, three - and they all blend in so at times, it's hard to find one.

 These are how I am using those little Lion Brand Bonbons.

My favourite colour is the turquoise but they are all nice and bright. 

Sorry I can't show you what the end result will look like since they are to be a surprise.

It's nice to have different projects on the go. The knitting is done while watching TV and the quilting is being done as someone reads me a book on tape. Multi-tasking at its most creative.

A little update

The Champagne Quilters are again three in number. Ann finally felt good enough to join us.

 It has had a few turns since I showed you. This is how the quilt was when we showed up last Wednesday night.
 Take note of the big blue floral star on the right in the second row.

Here's another shot of the quilt.

By evening's end, we took another turn on the quilt. See? There's only half of the blue star showing. This is Marg's side and she only had a little bit left before the quilt needed another turn. It won't be long before it's all finished. Marg will be pleased because this quilt is going to her church to be raffled off. We are already thinking of our next project. Perhaps it'll be a Dresden plate or a fan quilt.

New things

First off, I have to show you what I found in my backyard last week.

Or you can click on this photo. It's a cardinal. I wasn't fast enough to get a photo of the Mrs. but she would not have shown up too well anyway.

This is the beginning of a challenge issued by one of the guilds I belong to. The challenge is called making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Those who wished to play along were given a little bag with about eight or so of the ugliest charm squares. We were to make something out of them whereby the perimeter was to be no larger than 80 inches and we could add some of our own fabrics. Part of each of the ugly fabrics had to show up on the front of the quilt. I'll show the finished quilt once the voting has finished, which will be in a couple of weeks.

Isn't this cute? Fabricland had a wonderful sale (40% off) and I went over and picked up some flannel to be used as quilt backing.

I couldn't pass this flannel piece up either - again for the back of a baby quilt.

I tried hard not to purchase any fabric and use what I have but the flannel in my stash just wasn't cute enough - or big enough.

I'm still knitting and Patric's little sweater is slowly getting finished. The back and sleeves are done so there's just the front to complete. Then, of course, it has to be sewn up. I'm going to try hard to stick with that part of the finishing.

Continuing on with one of my BOMs (blocks of the month.)

Seven stars have been completed for the April installment of the BOM at Quilt Doodle Doodles.

This is how it fits in with the two previous month's blocks.

 This little guy is a Cheeky Raven from Regina Grewe's  paper piecing site. He was all finished except for the bottom strip, his eye and his nostril. Now he is all complete but I won't quilt him just yet. He may just make it into a much bigger quilt.

I have finally gotten to the part where I am using the little Lion Brand Bonbons. This is actually a nice purple.

And lastly, I am going to finish this sweater for little Patric. I made sure that I started with the biggest size so I know that it will fit him. Since I have other things that I would like to start, this needs to get finished.
