Sock dolls and Ninjas visit

These are a couple of dolls that my daughter Maili made from a pair of socks each. She wanted the Ninja theme, and the one on the right actually has knee pads and a shuriken or, as they are more commonly known here, "Ninja throwing stars" - except his is made from felt so I don't think it would cause anyone harm.

She taught me how to make them.

Here's a close-up of his double button eyes. I like hers better.

Every Inchie Monday #13

Winged: having a winglike part or parts.

Definitely not a bird. This is the way the inchie is supposed to be since the airplane is diving.

Finished quilts

Well, I forgot to take a photo of the quilt that the Champagne Quilters completed last week but that was okay since we had just taken it off the frame and it wasn't bound yet. This week, it is totally complete. Ann is the one that usually takes the quilt home and does the binding for us.

Meals on Wheels has requested a quilt from us so that where this one is headed.

Here's a close-up of the quilting in the plain blocks.

Marg likes to keep busy and since she doesn't have a quilt of her own that she is working on, she has been quilting a few Linus quilts. One is bound in red.

This one is bound in green.

The previous two quilts were actually supposed to be the backing for this quilt. The guild supplied the fabrics. As you can see, Marg got three quilts out of one. All of these are hand quilted.

This is the backing she used for the Noah's Ark quilt in the previous photo.

Last week we started planning our next quilt and so, while going through some of the fabrics that we have accumulated from donations, Marg came across a couple of pre-printed panels. This one is now stretched on a frame waiting to be quilted.

And lastly, here's a queen-sized quilt that Ann completed. Purple is Ann's colour. Both she and Marg have now made the card tricks pattern and neither one is overly fond of it. I don't think I'll be trying it any time soon.

Rhythm: a patterned repetition of a motif, formal element, etc., at regular or irregular intervals in the same or a modified form.

 Pattern and repetition.

Mail goodies and other things

I was fortunate to win a couple of things in the One World One Heart blog tour recently.

I won these five wonderful patterns from Jill at Jillily Studio. The waves are 3-D prairie points on the Ahoy! pattern.

I was also very fortunate to win these mini journals. I had my choice of papers and cover colours. I requested watercolour paper inside and I left the cover colours to Sophie of the Art of Being Miss Kool Aid. What a cute blog title.

These are linkable note books. I plan on using them for creative ideas.

That's one of the reasons I requested watercolour paper - so I can use my watercolour pencil crayons.

Please excuse the sideways photo but blogger wasn't letting me turn it.

Here's my amaryllis. It was on sale about a month ago. I guess they wanted to get rid of the ones they had and so they were already planted. All I did was bring it home and water it.

One day.

The next day.

The day after that.

Today. Just a little bit of colour in my kitchen. A change from tulips and daffodils.

Working on some secret projects. I will post the finished item once it has been received. These are some Dilly Dally charm squares with some of my own fabrics mixed in. I didn't like the blacks that were in the charm square package and so I took them out.

I don't know why the colours don't come out the way they should. This is a soft green colour. It's a surprise and so I can't show it yet. Once it's complete and received, I will show the whole thing. I amazed myself by knitting this. I am not as dumb as I thought. Maybe one day I will be knitting socks...

Book Review - Snowmen

Since I am a proud mom, I thought I would brag a bit here. There is a wonderful review of my son Mark's book Snowmen in today's edition of Canada's national newspaper, the Globe and Mail.

Product Details
The book is available at Chapters/Indigo, Amazon (both .ca and .com) Barnes and Noble, and Borders. It's also at many bricks and mortar book stores.

Done, done and done

It's bound, with a hanging sleeve and label.

Now that this little cross stitch is done, I don't know what to do with it. I may border it with fabric and make it into a small wall hanging.

And this baby blanket is complete. It is for my niece who is due any day.

On with other things (mainly baby-related)...
We have been ill (my husband had the flu and I had a cold) and hence, that's why I have been absent. Slowly getting better...

Every Inchie Monday #10

Dance: to move one's feet or body, or both, rhythmically in a pattern of steps, especially to the accompaniment of music; to bob up and down.

 Elegance in movement.
