Once again

This time I have photos from the Etobicoke quilt show. Have fun viewing them.

  The lighting in the main room wasn't the best and the information tags were small so not all of these will have additional information.

While I am not a hexagon fan, I do like the colours in this and it's big hexagons.

See what I mean about the lighting and the fact that these information tags are small? At least they do have the dimensions on them.

There were a lot of lap sized quilts so they were doubled up the wall.

The blurb on this one was interesting.

I think I will be checking out the dollar store a bit more closely next time I'm there.

I do like the colours in the one on the lower left.

A great mix of fabrics.

Here's a close-up of the hand quilting.

A blue pineapple quilt and Edyta Sitar's umbrella pattern which was actually appliqued by hand and not fused on.

I thought you'd like to see this one a bit closer.

This was very fresh and spring-like.

They looked more like tulips and not daffodils.

I guess this is a popular pattern since there was one quilt like this in the last quilt show.

I'm short but I'm glad that the hand quilting showed up in this one.

This was a huge quilt.

A great story.

 What else is there to say about this quilt but fun, fun, fun.

Those Harebrained Happenings ladies have some really cute patterns. Another great quilt story.

Minimalistic but I liked it. I like the muted greens.

Crazy Quilting

Just a short post to let you all know that Kathy Shaw has now opened registration for the intermediate class of crazy quilting. You must have taken her beginner's class in order to be in this one. Hurry though, because registration is only open from March 29-31. It's free. All you have to do is get your own supplies (use your stash is what Kathy recommends.)

Interlude

There will be more quilt show photos soon but for now I have this.

 This is the next baby quilt that the Champagne Quilters will be finishing. Those are 8 inch squares and believe it or not, I needed a guide to be able to put them in the right order.

And here's Bob the Snowman. He has no eyes or mouth yet because he's not quilted yet. This was a kit that I finally got put together. Once he's finished he will make another appearance. I decided that he wasn't worth the effort to hand applique so he's just fused and edge stitched. I may even machine quilt this.

Kindred Hearts Quilt Show - Part two

Continuing on with another photo heavy post.

This quilt has some of the same colours as the table runner I left off at in part one of the quilt show.

This quilt was so unique as a baby quilt. The setting and the colour is not the usual thing you find in baby quilts.

As you can see from the backing fabric, the quilter cut up animals and framed them in black.

These were up on the stage and we really couldn't get close enough to read the labels.

Judy said that she had a scrapbook of scrap quilt ideas and this was one of them. Quilter's cache calls it nine patch - straight furrows.

A new one on me - the border triangle setting is called migrating geese.

I think this is a very cute idea to measure a child.

Judy said that this was done with one of those specialty rulers.

What can I say? It's a nine patch. It doesn't get much easier than that but this is so effective.

Hunter's star. I like the pattern but have yet to make one.

This was a fun baby quilt with the 3D elements.

There's an awful lot of points on this. I didn't take a close-up but the blocks have snowmen in the middle.

This is the border and you can see the cute little snowmen.

There are two quilt shows this weekend and so there will be more photos, more inspiration.
