More quilts

A couple of posts back I showed you quilts from a country fair. Here are more quilts that I saw at a show before I went to the country fair - which, by the way, was in Williams Lake, British Columbia. The quilts below were taken about three weeks ago in a church in Leaksdale, Ontario. The Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario holds a quilt show every second year and the quilters in the area offer their quilts to be hung. L. M.Montgomery's husband, Ewan Macdonald, was a Presbyterian minister there and Lucy Maud lived in Leaksdale from about 1911-1926.

 I really liked this quilt.

Only one leaf had a shadow.

 I'm glad that they included some rag quilts too.

This was an interesting quilt because of the 3-D pieces.

This was an interesting quilt because the fabrics were extremely subtle. Both my friend Judy and I were taken aback since one doesn't normally see such a quilt. I quite like it.

And, downstairs, there were even more quilts - and a tea room.

 The little bunny and Easter egg quilt is cute.

Knitting help

No one ever taught me how to sew up knitting pieces or how to weave in ends or how to add another ball of yarn when one comes to the end. A lot of things I learned by asking questions and by searching online. One of the best things I learned recently was how to to weave in ends.

Tails all tucked in. It was painless and once I started, I was on a roll.

Country Fair Quilts

The following photos of quilts were taken at a small country fair - the Williams Lake Harvest Fair that has been going on for 38 years now. Enjoy.

I like how they displayed the one on the left - going around the corner.

I hope you liked the quilts. No hand quilting at all, which was disappointing.

Still sewing

I was asked by my son and his wife to make dresser scarves for their dresser and night tables because the little kitties like to jump up on them and their claws were starting to leave marks.

So, I was given the sizes and the colour was to be dark red - similar to red wine.

I went into the stash and pulled a bunch of upholstery samples and set to work.

This is the long dresser top part all done. I decided to "crazy quilt" it. It wasn't difficult but it took quite a bit of time because it's so long (the dresser is 62 inches.)

 All done. The night table covers look like placemats just sitting there. The long dresser scarf is just folded over.
Now, I have a request to make cushions for a rocking chair - in yellow.
