Halton Quilt Show - Part one

Yes, another quilt show. I hope you enjoy the quilts.

This just goes to show you what you can do with scraps.

Just a little close-up of one of the squares.

another close-up

Sorry, this one's blurry.

There were about 40 quilts made by school children from kindergarten to grade seven. Kits of blocks were made by members of the guild. The little ones chose which baggie they wanted to do and I was told that they worked in pairs with the help of guild volunteers. One child sewed (guided the fabric) while the other one was responsible for pressing the foot pedal (because the children were too short to reach it.) I took a photo of a few of the quilts - not all 40. One member's husband quilted them all on the long arm.

I love all the little sayings about what quilts are and what they mean.

Just a little close-up.

There were just so many pretty quilts done by children.

Turquoise and gray - a couple of my favourite colour combinations.

Another great colour combination. I like the 'frame' idea.

That's a lot of envelopes.

Just to give you an idea on how to use some of your novelty fabric.

That's it for today. More tomorrow.

  1. So many ideas from these photos, Dolores. Thank you for posting them, that took work! Lovely show!

  2. Many "Wow" quilts there. Very nice.

  3. Oh they are all so beautiful, but the little ones' quilts steal the show. What a wonderful project that had them sharing the sewing, treadle , and all else, then a wonderful husband came in the picture with the long arm quilting to finish them off. And even a kindergarten one. Thanks so very, very , much for sharing.

  4. It's a lovely idea to teach a school class or a kindergarten group to make a quilt together! They really seem to have thought about their project too. Beautiful quilts. All of them.

  5. What a great thing to involve the children - and they created some beautiful quilts. Maybe they will go on to become the quilters of the future.
