This is how the quilt looked when we first arrived last night. Marg and I had worked on it last week without Ann because she was suffering from a sore throat.
When we get this close, we are literally touching knees as we work away from both sides.
We knew last week that it would just take one more night to finish quilting this and get it off the frame. Even then, it took us the whole two hours of steady quilting. That's how long we spend quilting - 3 people, once a week from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Then we break for coffee, cheese and crackers or cookies and a bit of talk. While we quilt there is a radio set to the oldies so we get to hear a bit of music.
Here's Ann and Marg holding the quilt just after we took it off the frame.
Here's a closer look.
This is the backing we used. We do try to see if there are any places where we missed quilting but with a print it does get difficult. Ann does the binding for us. Perhaps I will take another photo of it once the binding has been put on.
And here's a bit of progress on the baby quilt. The clip art drawings are in the plain blocks and the designs are then quilted in. I am hand quilting it in a frame.
You did a great job. Just like they did in the old days, quilting together.
