I managed to find the fabrics I used for the nine patches and added a border. I think it makes the quilt more colourful.
I put it on the frame yesterday and will start quilting it today.
These are a couple of the clip art designs that I put in the plain blocks. They are all different.
These are quilting threads and I don't yet know if I will use them all. I may just stick with white. The baby is due in August and the parents don't want to know if it will be a boy or a girl so I am safe with using white, blue and pink. You don't really see the colour of the quilting thread when you quilt anyway - it's the quilting design that stands out. If you scroll down the page, you will see this quilt without the border because I showed it in a previous post.
I will be linking up with the Needle and Thread Network. Go take a look to see what other Canadians are up to.
The border is beautiful. Makes this quilt vry special!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to stitch the drawings?
I agree the border is really lovely. Are you going to embroider the plain panels or stitch by machine?
ReplyDeleteI really like that stripy randon border! I will have to keep it in mind for one of my next projects.
ReplyDeleteI also thought the idea of using "printables" as quilt motifs (previous blog post) to be an excellent suggestion and I have gone to investigate few and print them up for future use...
That's really pretty, the border is great!
ReplyDeleteThese are such lovely colours for a baby, especially a new born. I'll be lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for a sweet little baby - I like the idea of using the clip art for quilting patterns. Lovely!
ReplyDeletesweet baby quilt...such beautiful soft colors
ReplyDeleteA very sweet baby quilt , are you hand quilting this or by machine?
ReplyDeletehope that you have a fun time with the quilting-- seems like it would be relaxing with those colors to look at
ReplyDeletecute border. And, I like the quilting designs you're using (cute selection in the previous post).
ReplyDeleteThe border makes the quilt. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThe pieced border "makes" the quilt, but here no parent would put a boy under a quilt with even a smidgen of pink - sad.
ReplyDeleteI've learned to stick to blue, yellow and green for unisex pastel baby quilts.
