I purchased this Amaryllis sometime before Christmas. It was a good price and I needed some colour in my kitchen.
Isn't it pretty? Delicate colours and I like the name too - Apple Blossom. It took a long time to start, at least it seemed like a long time. Perhaps it wasn't warm enough in my kitchen. Anyway, I have been watching with bated breath the last couple of days because the buds were about to open.
Well, looky here. Nothing like like picture on the box at all. A deep red Amaryllis is what I got. I'm not complaining but it definitely is different from what I was waiting for. It has at least 5 blooms and they seem to be opening up at different times. I must say, it is a nice surprise. My kitchen now has some colour - a great Christmas colour.
Note: I did put on word verification for a bit since I was getting so many wonderful emails filled with gibberish from Anonymous. I'll take it off after awhile.
Well, I put a very similar Amaryllis, and mine is not even in bloom yet, so I can't tell..
ReplyDeleteYours looks lovely though.
I am also getting lots of Anonymous emails, but I am still resisting word verification so far....don't know for how long..
Beautiful, but not what the box said..I like both the colour shades, but red is so cheery. My Anonymous comments go to my email, not onto my blog. and from all sorts of silly/funny/ not even blog related sites, goodness knows why they look and even bother. Word verification, I have problems reading the letters sometimes, and the numbers seem to be very pale. But if it stops silly people putting in silly comments, I'm happy to use it on anyone's blog. Cheers from Jean
ReplyDeleteGreat...I love Amaryllis!!! Especially the red one!! Perhaps one day there will be a white one, too. This would be my favourite one!!
ReplyDeleteI send you my best wishes and have a great weekend!!

I would have been devastated if Apple Blossom turned out red! I love amaryllis, but I prefer the pale colours. Apple blossom is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteI love Amaryllis, especially the red ones. But an Apple Blossom would have been nice too. I am getting all kinds of anonymous comments too. It is annoying.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous red, but a bit disappointing it's not the one you wanted.Like you new blog background and photo.

That is beautiful - but what a shame that it wasn't "as advertised"! Still, it's a great color for January.
ReplyDeleteI would have been disconcerted, but it is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteI get spam too but not too much so far.
Such a disappointment. But the red flower is doingbits best to make you smile (:
ReplyDeletePs: and it has lots of buds. Amazing
ReplyDeleteit looks fabulous!

Hugs, Di and miss gracie
after many years of prefering my flowers outside in summer, I am coming to realize a bloom in winter gives one a special lift! And yes, I too (I think) have put on the word verification because of those anonymous comments - can't figure why someone would bother because they go into the spam filter anyway...
ReplyDeleteThat has happened to me- like EVERY year- this year I didn't get one- I am a bit tired of red after christmas- here comes Valentines day-more red! Nice to have a REAL flower at this time of year even if it is red!!
ReplyDeleteWell the read is pretty but I would have been a bit disappointed. Good for you for remembering to just be happy with what comes. I think I need to follow your example!
ReplyDeleteWow.... it looks great...but, like you say...not exactly what you had in mind when you spent time searching for something else...
ReplyDeleteyeh.... I can't get rid of the anonymous crap either...I keep putting on the word thingy and taking it off and after a day there is stupid old Anonymous again.... spoiling all our fun...
