It's a 3D bow tie quilt. I started with about 22 blocks and sewed a couple more yesterday. I had to remember how it was put together. They are all floral fabrics. I thought it would be nice to make them out of girly fabrics since it was such a masculine block. I don't know yet if it will become a twin size quilt. I think that was in my mind when I first started making these.
If someone wants, I could post a tutorial on how one goes about making a 3D bow tie block.
I am linking up with the Needle and Thread Network and also with Esther's blog.
I made my Dad a 3D bowtie wallhanging for his 80th. He wore bow ties sometimes and I used his old ties. They are a cute block!

ReplyDeleteAfter churn dash and plain nine patch the 3d bow tie is one of my "go to" blocks when I just want to sew mindlessly. There is always someone willing to take one of these quilts off my hands when they are done! I don't think I have see a 3d bow tie tutorial on line so if you do one, I will give it a mention on my blog for those who want to learn it!
