Getting closer

There is only one more part of the Meadow Mystery that I have taken part in. Today was the release of the second last part.

I finished the 4 blocks that are Block Two. There's a block five but I'll work on that another day.

I got a bit more quilting done last night.

And my knitting project has had a few more rows added to it.

I'd like to finish a BOM that I started a couple of years ago but I can't find the bin that it's in. I saw it a while ago but now I can't locate it. There is another quilt or two I could work on to get it closer to completion but my mind was set on the BOM. Oh well, I may go back into the fabric jungle later to look again. Hopefully, I won't get lost.

Champagne Quilters

The first quilt together of the New Year.

Marg and I will be continuing on with this quilt tonight. We will either leave it as is or add a small border. Then we will start on another one in the same pattern but in orange and browns. These are lap quilts for wheelchair residents of the veterans' wing of Sunnybrook Hospital.

Mild and rainy

That was today's weather.

I kept looking out my front door all day and this is what I saw.

Rain drops on the puddles melting what snow was left.

Our wet front steps with our Christmas tree waiting to get picked up.

We have a lot of squirrels in the backyard.

He braved the rain hoping for a handout. I don't feed them, my husband does. This little guy doesn't look like he's missed many meals. Nice and plump is what I'd call him.

My cookie jars. All have some cookies in them except the horse. He's vocal and neighs loudly when you open his mouth. The friar is a cookie jar that I bought for my mom. I didn't have cookies growing up but when I got old enough to bake myself, it's one of the things that I made. My mom and I had our favourite recipes and the friar usually held something.

I made a couple of blocks for a new quilt that I have been wanting to make. It's a Red Boot quilt design called Scrap Bin Sheep.

I worked on the quilt that's in the frame. The row is now complete. I'm planning on getting the other end done so I can duplicate the quilting. I don't have to but I like symmetry.

I'm linking up to The Needle and Thread Network.

Projects

Today was spent with granddaughters but yesterday I did get some sewing done. First day of the new year.

I managed to sew the second block of the 150 Canadian Women sew along. Sew it - I did but iron it, I didn't.

Poor Bert had languished in my sewing room for years and probably decades. He is missing an ear but I had to fix his foot. It had come apart at the seam and my granddaughter told me that I had to fix 'her' Bert. Talk about inducement...
Anyway, his foot is now together and while I was sewing it, I noticed that it wasn't the first repair job that Bert has had to undergo. I do believe that Bert belonged to my eldest son Mark - father of the little girl who told me to fix him.

This book on tape kept me company while I sewed. I'm not finished it yet.

I altered this pattern. The armholes were too big, the front was too low and, since I was going to add a separating zipper, it didn't have to be so wide. I also wanted the front hem to be straight. I didn't have big white paper or newsprint with which to make a new pattern so I thought I would use some parchment paper. Not a good idea since the paper would not hold dressmakers carbon marks. Dumb idea. I looked in my cupboard and ended up using the reverse side of some wrapping paper. The pieces have been cut but I have to go to Fabricland and pick up a small separating zipper in order to finish it.

So far, that's it. I still have a quilt on the frame that needs some attention so hopefully tomorrow I can get to it.
