Enjoy!

This past weekend I attended the York Heritage Quilters Guild quilt show. The venue was Edwards Gardens in Toronto and it was, once again, a wonderful show. My friend Judy came with me and we were lucky enough not to be rushed, so we took our time and even got to walk through a second time to see if there was anything we missed because the first time through, it was crowded.

This was one of the first quilts you saw as you entered the main room.

Hand appliqued and hand quilted and only $600. Needless to say, it had a SOLD sign on it.

A delicate looking quilt because of the fabrics used.

I love the colours.

This was an interesting quilt so I took a photo of the block.

I wasn't the only one interested in this quilt because another attendee was taking a photo of the block at the same time.

 Love the colours of this quilt and it's simplicity.

Sorry for the blurry pic. I had to take my photos fairly quickly since there were so many people around. 

 I'll never make a hexagon quilt but this was so nice and interesting.

 The hexagons were cut specifically so that the flowers would show up. As you can see, it was beautifully hand quilted.

The background fabrics are two subtle shades of off white. I really liked this because of all the solid colours.

Although it says that there is thread painting in this quilt, both Judy and I couldn't find any and we did look all over it.

I'll finish up with more photos tomorrow.
My camera battery died and for some reason the back-up battery was dead. I had made sure that it was charged but I guess the battery's life is non-existent.

Quilt show reminder

Fabric

Once again, I tried hard not to buy any more fabric but I caved.

I bought this to use as binding on ...

this quilt that has been sitting ready for a while now. I was going to go with brown but it was hard to match the right shade of brown (I came close.) My husband is the one who chose the turquoise when I asked which one I should get to finish off the edge of the quilt.

I got this fabric to make something for my little grandson Luc but neither my daughter nor I could come up with anything until...

I figured I could pair it up with another fabric like this turquoise tone on tone and make two pillow cases. One can stay here and the other one can be used at Luc's house. I might even trim one in red.

Last week at our guild meeting, fat quarters were going for one dollar each and batiks were two dollars. I didn't need any but it was just such a bargain. I really like the purple batik with the little turquoise birds. There's a theme here it seems. Turquoise, my absolutely favourite colour.

I have to get back and finish sewing that binding on now. I've got about one quarter done.

Hallowe'en tails

Just a short post to show you all the cute dinosaurs with their tails.

Now I'm off to do more sewing - a few more burp cloths and putting some binding on a big quilt.

It's sunny right now but cold. A good day to sew.

The last tail

So far, I've made one for Luc, one for Patric and now here's the last dinosaur tail for Hallowe'en.

It's made out of light-weight upholstery fabric. My daughter takes her little boys out on Hallowe'en and the theme this year was dinosaurs - she likes to dress-up too. I free-hand made the pattern bigger than the ones for the little boys. I left the spikes the same size but just doubled the number. My daughter told me to use up some ugly fabric.

Sorry it's blurry but it's hard to take a photo of one's arm inside the tail while trying to keep the spikes open so I can photograph the accent fabric I used. It's the same as Luc's but in green instead of yellow.
